#252 – Cactus Skidoo

The Life of Dad Show - Episode 252 - Cactus Skidoo

Tommy Riles and Art Eddy talk about how they prepare for family vacations and what travel hacks they use to get ready for the trip. Then the guys bring on Grammy Award winning artist, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo.

23 Skidoo‘s music is the celebration of creativity, exploration, adventure and especially diversity. A sworn defender of the wild and weird, he takes families on cerebral vacations into realms of crazy imagination backed by thumping basslines and heavy horn sections that wear out the dance floor.

We sit down with Skidoo to chat about winning a Grammy, working with his daughter in the music industry, and much more.

#251 – Josh Blue

The Life of Dad Show - Episode 251 - Josh Blue

Tommy Riles and Art Eddy talk about the difference in the “Dad Schedule” their dads had to now as they are fathers. They are inspired by this week’s guest, comedian Josh Blue. Josh‘s schedule differs from the typical nine-to-five that our dads had back in the day.

Blue, who is widely revered as the winner of Last Comic Standing with cerebral palsy has successfully transcended the reality competition novelty and gone on to achieve respect from both critics and fans. He is a single father of two children, so a lot of his stand up is about fatherhood and how he balances his work while raising his kids.

Follow Josh Blue on Twitter @JoshBlueComedy, Facebook, and go to JoshBlue.com for tour dates.

#250 – Ben Falcone

The Life of Dad Show - Episode 250 - Ben Falcone

Tommy Riles and Art Eddy are inspired by this week’s guest, actor, director, comedian, and author, Ben Falcone, and ask if each of their kids wrote a book about them as dads what the title would be and what their kids would write about them.

For Ben, he penned his thoughts in a book about his father and shares his own stories about being a dad. Being A Dad Is Weird: Lessons in Fatherhood from My Family to Yours is a funny and intimate look at fatherhood that combines stories about his own larger-than-life dad and how his experiences raising two daughters with his wife, Melissa McCarthy, who wrote the Foreword, are shaped by his own childhood.

The book is hilarious, and who would doubt it especially if the book was written by the guy who is the actor and writer/director of the films The Boss and Tammy? We had the great pleasure of chatting with Ben about the book, his relationship with his father and what it means for him to be a dad.

#249 – Byron Scott

The Life of Dad Show - Episode 249 - Byron Scott

Tommy Riles and Art Eddy discuss whether or not they are cool with their parents spoiling their kids. They were inspired by this week’s guest, three-time NBA Champion, Byron Scott, who likes to spoil his grandkids.

Byron Scott grew up in Inglewood, California and played at Morningside High School, in the shadow of what was then the Lakers’ home arena, The Forum. He attended Arizona State University but left school in his junior year to enter into the NBA. As a player, he won three NBA championships with the Lakers during their Showtime era in the 1980s. Scott was named the head coach of the 2008 Western Conference All-Star team, and a few months after, he was awarded the 2007-2008 NBA coach of the year award.

Byron Scott is now an ESPN studio analyst and is a frequent guest on shows including The Jump with Rachel Nichols, Sportsnation, and NBA Countdown. Scott can also be seen on Fox Sports West (FS1) performing as an analyst on shows including Undisputed and The Herd.

We chat with Byron about fatherhood, his playing and coaching days, his new book Slam-Dunk Success: Leading from Every Position on Life’s Court, and more.

Follow Byron Scott on Twitter @official_bscott and Facebook, and you can purchase his book at OfficialByronScott.com

#248 – Joey McIntyre

The Life of Dad Show - Episode 248 - Joey McIntyre

Tommy Riles and Art Eddy talk with singer, songwriter and actor Joey McIntyre. Joey is known for being in the band New Kids on the Block. Not only is the band back and out on tour, Joey is back with a new show called Return of the Mac.

Return of the Mac airs on Pop TV. Pop’s original scripted comedy series has Joey as a version of himself alongside his real-life family — wife Barrett and their three children, Griffin (8), Rhys (6) and Kira (5).

As he embarks on a hilarious quest to be taken seriously as a legit actor, Joey is thrown into the reluctant role of a talk-show host at a fledgling cable network called the Comfy Channel. He is joined by his often misguided manager and team played by a hysterical cast, including Adam Ray, Jamie Denbo, Katie Wee, Punam Patel and Jordan Black.

Return of the Mac airs Wednesdays at 8:30/7:30c only on Pop. We sat down with Joey to talk about the show, fatherhood and more.
