#78 – Doug French & John Pacini – Dad 2.0 Summit

The Life of Dad Show - Episode 78 - Doug French & John Pacini - Dad 2.0 Summit

Tom Riles & Art Eddy have the great pleasure to talk with Dad 2.0 Summit founders Doug French and John Pacini. Doug and John give some back story to how the summit came to be and what to expect this year in New Orleans on January 30th to February 1st.

DAD 2.0 SUMMIT is an annual conference where marketers, social media leaders, and blogging parents connect to discuss the changing voice and perception of modern fatherhood.

More men are defying stereotypes by taking active roles in their children’s lives, making day-to-day household purchasing decisions regarding products and services, and chronicling these experiences online.

The Dad 2.0 Summit is an open conversation about the commercial power of dads online, as well as an opportunity to learn the tools and tactics used by influential bloggers to create high-quality content, build personal brands, and develop viable business models.

#76 – Dell Curry

The Life of Dad Show - Episode 76 - Dell Curry

Tom Riles and Art Eddy talk NFL playoffs, who is expecting another child in their family, and we get to see who can sound like a bobcat. If that isn’t enough the guys also talk a bit about the NBA.

This week’s special guest is Dell Curry. Mr. Curry was one of the best shooters in the NBA during his time in the league. Curry would play either at the shooting guard position or at small forward. He played for five NBA teams, most notably for the Charlotte Hornets. In 1994 he won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award. To this day he still holds some of the team’s records.

Now working for FOX Sports as a commentator on Charlotte Bobcats television he gets to still be around the game he loves. His son, Steph Curry currently plays in the NBA for the Golden State Warriors. Like father, like son, Steph has a sweet shot and is a force to be reckoned with on the court.

Dell talks about his time in the NBA, his son’s career in the league, fatherhood, and how the game has evolved.

#75 – Channing Frye

The Life of Dad Show - Episode 75 - Channing Frye

This week, The Life of Dad Show is dedicating this episode to Holden Flynn. One of Life of Dad’s earliest and greatest supporters, Trey Flynn just lost his son, Holden to Congenital Heart Defects (CHD). Our thoughts and prayers are with this excellent father and his family as we all remember and cherish “Tin Man Flynn”.

Our special guest this week is Phoenix Suns power forward, Channing Frye. He couldn’t wait for this year’s NBA season to begin. Last year after a preseason physical, Channing found out that he had an enlarged heart. Frye was told he couldn’t play. It was tough news for him to digest, but he didn’t let that slow him down.

In his year hiatus from the NBA, Frye spent time with his family, did some traveling, and had time to do some personal reflection. Frye also started up the “One Heart” T-shirt campaign for his foundation, the Frye Family Foundation. Proceeds from the sale of these shirts will go to two charities, the Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Portland’s Providence “Play Smart” Youth Heart Screenings. You can purchase the shirts here!

Channing spoke with about his time off the court, his preparation for this year, fatherhood, and we even chatted about his sneaker collection.
